My love for swimming didn’t develop straight away. As a young child I had a bad experience in water and it frightened me for many years. With many siblings I felt I was missing out on all the fun they were having, so one day I decided to push myself into the water and get over my fear. It worked! From that day onwards,  I decided I wanted to help children and adults like myself to conquer their fear of water and fall in love with it as I did.

I qualified as a Swimming Instructor 5 years ago and I teach all ages. It’s incredibly rewarding for me to witness so many people face their fears and come out the other side. To me, swimming isn’t just fun; it’s a vital life skill and I feel privileged to be able to pass on that skill. Having the opportunity to do this every day is both fulfilling and heart-warming.

I’ve enjoyed swimming from an early age; my mother, a swimming instructor, taught me to swim before I could walk. A childhood spent observing my mother teaching children in our home pool made it a natural choice to follow in her ‘strokes’!

By the age of 17, I was a level 1 & 2 qualified instructor. I continued teaching throughout studying at university. Today, I teach all ages and stages, from parent and baby to adults. Over the last 12 months, I’ve developed an appreciation for synchronised swimming and have recently enrolled on a teacher’s course to pursue this interest.

I relish teaching and working with children. It’s a very special feeling observing my students grow in confidence as they learn to swim.

I started swimming lessons at a very young age and rapidly progressed through the different levels. From swimming lessons, I moved onto my local swimming club where I competed in galas for 9 years. I started volunteering at my swimming club when I turned 16 years old. I taught the younger children and prepared them for competitive swimming. I quickly realized that I loved teaching and swimming in equal portions, I then decided to pursue my joint passion and become a swimming teacher. I have been working as a swimming teacher for four years now in various companies teaching both adults and children.

Watching the children progress and learn new skills is one of the most rewarding things you could ask for. Swimming is such a valuable skill to have now days and I am happy to impart my knowledge onto others. I enjoy the creative side of swim teaching and look to make lessons enjoyable, informative and fun for all ages.

I started swimming at around 6 years old in a waterpark. I was terrified as I was thrown in the water not knowing how to swim at all. I rapidly realised how important swimming is and how crucial it is for everyone to know how to swim. This motivated me and gave me the confidence to get back in the water and practice my swimming.

This early experience of water made a big impression upon me and I decided to become a swimming instructor to help young children and nervous adults conquer any fear they may have of the water and become excellent swimmers. My aim is always to deliver high quality lessons which ensure every little technique is being taught correctly to prevent faults developing. When teaching I like to keep my sessions fun, challenging and progressive.

Maintaining a calm and patient approach to my teaching allows me to build an excellent bond with my students. The most rewarding aspect of teaching is seeing my swimmers grow with confidence in the water and watching my non-swimmers progress to become strong and competent swimmers.

I have always been very sporty and participated in lots of activities from a young age. These included gymnastics, cross country, shot put and karate. I competed in local triathlons and other local fitness events.

I have been working in the leisure industry for 17 years, gaining various qualifications including personal training, pool plant rooms and first aid. I have been a swim teacher for 12 years and teach all ages from non-swimmers to triathletes. I am very passionate about helping my pupils to become water confident and teaching them a life skill

Growing up in Poland I was extremely sporty, taking part in many sports including boxing and martial arts. However from early childhood I have always felt the most comfortable whilst swimming, and as time passed I realised swimming was where my heart lay. I spent my adolescent years surrounded by beautiful lakes and I would spend many hours teaching myself how to swim until each stroke was perfected. Even though I never swam competitively, my enthusiasm for swimming never waned and I concluded that I would love to be able to teach others my knowledge and share that same passion. I completed my ASA swimming teacher certificates in 2014 and I have been teaching ever since.

I have considerable experience teaching all ages – from as little as 3 months to adults. I particularly enjoy teaching children and I aim to achieve the right balance of fun and hard work in each lesson. I focus on each child’s ability, observing closely to make sure that each stroke is being correctly executed. My reward is seeing the progression of every child each week. I have taught children who have refused to even step foot in the pool; after one lesson there is always a complete turnaround and the child is relishing being in the water!

I share Sports Generation’s strong belief that swimming should be something that everyone is taught as it is a necessary life skill. I am very excited to be coaching for them and I look forward to all of my pupils excelling at swimming.

Swimming has been a large and enduring part of my life; my mother was a swimming teacher so I learnt to swim at a very young age and have always loved the sport. I swam competitively with Farnham Swimming Club for over 10 years, earning many achievements. I missed it very much when I had to stop, so teaching children how to swim allows me to share my passion for the sport and pass on the knowledge and skills I’ve learnt over the years.

I’ve now been teaching swimming for over 9 years. At 13 I volunteered as a water assistant at my club and at a local swim school. I learnt a huge amount during this time, following and assisting more experienced teachers and coaches. Keen to progress myself, I gained my ASA Level 1 and 2 swimming teaching qualifications.

For me, being able to teach children an enjoyable life skill that they will use again and again is immensely rewarding as well as critically important.

I am a Sports Science graduate (Bsc Hons) and have been incredibly passionate about sport since a young age. My sporting background involved Rugby, Athletics and Swimming, all of which I have both coached and competed in.

I have been a swim coach for 8  years and I continually apply what I have learnt in my degree to my coaching to maximise the progression of all the swimmers in my classes.

I enjoy watching young swimmers develop in confidence and strive to get them swimming independently, which of course is such a vital life skill. Once they are able to swim independently I endeavor to augment their technique whilst making lessons enjoyable and fun for everyone.

I started working in the leisure industry 6 years ago as a personal trainer and fitness instructor. Over time, I realised that my true vocation lay with swimming; having swum from a young age, I have enjoyed many years of swimming. I decided to complete my swimming teacher qualification and have not looked back.

I have an energetic and positive personality and at heart I’m a big kid! As a result my lesson plans, whilst being structured, involve making the lesson interactive and fun to help maximise the learning potential of my students. I believe the key to learning anything, including how to swim, is to make instruction as interesting and enjoyable as possible.

According to my parents I was an absolute water baby from the get go. And it really hasn’t changed much, I love the water and swimming has been my single consistent hobby ever since.

When I got to year 10 all my friends were starting to get jobs at cafes and shops, but I could never really see myself being able to cope with that. So instead I went to ask the teacher of the pool I swam at if there were any jobs going and she offered me the role of a pool helper which I was thrilled about!

I continued with that job for just under a year when my boss asked if I wanted to train for my first STA Teaching award and although I was doing GCSEs at the time I jumped straight in (quite literally!). Later I went on to complete my next STA teaching qualification giving me the skills and knowledge to start teaching more advanced swimmers. I currently teach alongside my A-levels, and I will certainly be carrying it on throughout my time at university where I hope to study theatre costume and scenery design.

One of my favourite things about swim teaching is seeing the participant’s confidence blossom. Whether it’s just getting into the water or advancing in a particular stroke, every step is important. As their confidence grows, I can get to know them and what works best for them, allowing me to play with techniques so the lessons are always challenging and engaging.
