Dave Perry
Director of Health & Safety
Swimming is my raison d’etre. With a father in the Merchant Navy, my family and I were always based on the coast,so learning to swim was absolutely essential. I became a very strong swimmer, competing worldwide with many clubs.
I still swim competitively to this day and have made swimming my career. In 1998, I began as a lifeguard at Sevenoaks Swimming Centre, then soon became an ASA Swimming Teacher, progressing on to Swimming Co-ordinator, Duty Manager and then Leisure Development Officer for Sevenoaks District Council. From 2001 – 2007, I worked as a Regional Development Officer with the Swimming Teachers’ Association (STA), gaining my STA Tutor qualification. I then spent several years as a Centre/General Manager for various leisure centres and swim schools across the South East, simultaneously delivering training courses for swimming teachers and lifesavers as part of my management role.
I have recently been appointed Director of Health & Safety for Sports Generation, working closely with Christian Kenny and Christopher Whitworth to monitor Health & Safety across Sports Generation’s pools. This involves thorough site inspections to produce Pool Safety Operating Procedures documentation (including Risk Assessments) for each pool. The sites are then monitored on a regular basis to ensure that Health & Safety standards are maintained and comply with HSE recommendations thereby following “Best Practice”. It gives me great pleasure to be part of the Sports Generation team and to work with an organisation that continually strives to maintain the highest standards of swimming tuition.
