COACH SAM
I first learned to swim with Sports Generation when I was 8. For years, I swam at Roko, which then led me to compete in swimming at school and at Barnes Swimming Club. Recently, I’ve discovered a passion for Sprint/Olympic distance triathlons, finding open water swimming particularly exciting!
Working with children is something I particularly enjoy, especially considering I have a 5-year-old sister. Combining this with my passion for sport I decided to pursue teaching swimming. Witnessing students’ progress is incredibly rewarding.
The top three reasons why I love being a swimming coach are: the infectious energy and positivity that children bring to lessons; the opportunity to give back and apply my knowledge to develop this crucial life skill; and the dynamic challenge of teaching, where no day is the same.
As a passionate open water swimmer who has been surfing in Cornwall for the past 8 years, I credit my strength in swimming and confidence in the ocean. Swimming, an essential life skill, opens up a world of activities and opportunities.
Having learned to swim with Sports Generation, I understand how to approach a lesson efficiently within 30 minutes. Teaching swimming can be a gradual process, but my patience and fresh approach to the sport, along with my own experience and passion for swimming, allows me to best tailor to the child’s needs.
