COACH MELISSA
I have always had a passion for swimming from a young age and loved everything about being in the water. I swam in a squad since I was seven years old and I looked up to my swimming coaches immensely. I always knew that one day, I would want to teach the wonderful sport of swimming and to be as good as my own coaches.
Swimming has been a significant part of my life, so I am fortunate to use my knowledge and love of swimming towards teaching. Witnessing the progression of a child’s confidence in the water provides vast satisfaction as a swimming teacher. Seeing a smile on a child’s face after they have built the water confidence or learnt a new skill is one of the best parts of teaching and I look forward it every lesson that I teach.
No two days are the same for a swimming coach and I will never become bored of it. I love helping children set goals of what they want to achieve in the water and love to see the enthusiasm and excitement when they reach those goals. Each child is different, their ability and the way that they learn is never the same. I appreciate the variety of ways that I can teach each child, making lessons exciting not only for myself but for the child as it allows an element of personalisation to find the most beneficial teaching method for each individual child.
Children should learn to swim predominantly because it is a life skill which could possibly save your child’s life one day. Additionally, not only is swimming extremely fun, but it also provides a plethora of health benefits for your child, both physically and mentally. Along with this, swimming provides awards and achievements that help to boost your child’s self-confidence and opens up so many possibilities for other water sports such as: scuba diving, surfing, triathlons, kayaking and many more.
I provide fun in my lessons, whilst being productive and informative; allowing your child to enjoy the lesson whilst learning new skills and progressing in their swimming journey. I am easily approachable and have a bubbly persona that the children love. I enjoy making the children smile and laugh during our lessons as it will allow them to use that fulfilment, joy and confidence to try new skills in the water.
