At Sports Generation we believe that learning to swim teaches your child a vital life skill, the benefits of swimming are endless. Starting as early as possible is crucial that’s why we offer our classes from the age of 3 months.
Read below our philosophy on why we believe children should start from a young age
Water Safety is essential
Drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury-related death to children aged one to 14. Water is all around us whether it be the swimming pool, river, lake, sea or bath tub. Making sure your child is comfortable in and around water is essential to their safety.
Swimming is the ultimate aerobic activity. Children learn more about breath control with swimming which creates an increased demand for oxygen, making their muscles work harder without knowing it. Swimming is also known to strengthen the heart and better blood circulation.
It’s a life skill
Learning to swim is a skill that you can use throughout your lifetime, learning the fundamentals from a young age will help confidence and reduce fear.
Swimming lessons are a great way to socialise for both the children and parents. Our shared private lessons are a maximum of two children at a time so your child can make new friends whilst learning to swim. All our venues allow for parents to watch their children during their swimming lessons and interact with other parents pool side.
Improves mental health
Physical activity improves mood in children and swimming can help decrease any stress and anxiety while relaxing, strengthening and toning their muscles.
Improves posture and co-ordination
Swimming works your child’s coordination with over two-thirds of their body engaging in movement when they swim. Swimming also strengthens their joints and improves their posture by improving the position of their spinal column.
